Dear parents,
Thank you again for helping your students with their Social Studies projects. They did a wonderful job! We all enjoyed sharing our new knowledge and talents with each other. Our grand finale was a trio of reports on the state of Hawaii. We ate some foods from the islands, did the limbo, danced a little, and hammed it up for the camera. Mrs. Marlatt got lots of pictures of posters, maps, and the students enjoying themselves on our Hawaiian day. What fun! Thank you to the parents and administrators for showing interest and support by joining us to see the completed projects.
We completed our Terra Nova/Stanford 10 tests and next week we will be back on our regular schedule. The students will have regular reading classes, regular specialist times, and spelling words. The rest of the year will go by quickly. I am going to allow the students to do a week of Science Experiments the last week of May and I will send home information soon. It will not be graded and it is not mandatory. It's something they really want to do and since they did such a great job on the Social Studies projects they have proven that they are capable of exceeding the second grade standards. Also, they earned a pizza party and will enjoy that next week....on Thursday. It will not replace their regular lunch. It will be around 1:30 in the afternoon. Good job! A spelling list for next week will go home tomorrow and I will post it here as well.
Thank you,
Mrs. Marlatt
