Supplies Needed
Dear parents,
Please send pencils each week for your student. We had a good supply at the beginning of the year, but they are going through two to four pencils (per student) each week and we are completely out of pencils at this point. Also, if you are able to donate paper (wide-ruled) I would appreciate it very much.
Thank you,
Mrs. Marlatt

Spelling Words & Phonograms for week of February 22nd, 2010
Dear parents,
As some of you have heard, we are embarking on an exciting Social Studies project. The students are pretty excited about this. On Monday I will send home more information, but let me give you a sneak-peek now. The students have each been assigned a particular state. The assignment consists of four parts. For the first part of the assignment the student will do research about the assigned state, then they will write a report or print a report from the computer. Please make sure they can read what they are reporting on or that they can remember what you read to them. The student will then collect pictures of things pertaining to that state and make a nice big poster. The best way to get pictures is by writing to the Visitors Bureau or Chamber of Commerce for that state. It takes about one week to ten days to receive the packet. Just have your student cut the pictures from the pamphlets and glue them on to the poster. Last of all they will make a relief map of their state using clay. I will send home a recipe for homemade clay or they may use modeling clay or Modeling Foam. Please do not use Playdoh. It crumbles before the day of their presentation. The entire project will be due in 4 weeks. I will give you a due date on Monday and more detailed information. When they are due the students will bring in the report, the poster, and their map to do their presentation. Parents will be able to come and assist or support their student on that day. We will take a full week to give the presentations. Have fun with your child as you learn about the state. They are very excited! This is a fun project and a great learning experience. More details later....

Valentine's Day Party Update
Dear parents,
We are still in need of 2 parent volunteers for February12th (Valentine Party) to help with crafts and passing out treats. We have had two parents who have notified me that they are bringing in something for the party. As of today, we do not need juice, plates, or napkins. However, all food items listed in an earlier blog (below) are still needed and appreciated. Thank you in advance for your contributions.
